When the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip colors were released upon the beauty world two weeks ago, beauty lovers went wild.
We went so wild the ColourPop website could barely keep up with demand and ended up running completely out of stock in a mere day. Yes, it was exactly like that!
After a bit of frustration, I managed to place my order of 4 of these new long-wearing lip colors, and managed to receive them in about a week, which is the typical delivery time for ColourPop.
There’s no doubt these lovely $6 lip colors are lovely, but was the hubub worth it? Are they really that fantastic that they are worthy of hoarding? Before I give my final verdict, here’s a closer look at Succulent, Tulle, Mars, and Lychee, which come with a doe-foot applicator.
Succulent is a bright coral.
Tulle is a pinky brown that everyone needs.
Mars is a bright fuchsia.
Lychee is a medium purple.
Here they are swatched side by side.
So, what do I think? Are these liquid lipsticks the be all and end all of liquid lip colors? No. They’re pretty, for sure and priced extremely well. I will definitely buy a few more and use them alone as well as bases with glosses, but I don’t find these to be as long-wearing as the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks.
Also, I experienced the leakage issues that have been discussed but only with Tulle. The leakage is pretty bad and it’s as if the tube was overfilled.
I went on Periscope yesterday to share some of my makeup tricks, and got in a quick review of ColoupPop Ultra Matte Lip in Tulle. Check the last couple of minutes of the video and you’ll see how it easy it is to apply Tulle as well as some of the leaking issues I’m experiencing. I edited the Periscope feed, but if you follow me (@paintedladies09) you can see the the whole feed.
