In my years of beauty junkie-ness, I have developed an outlying passion for anything contained in a palette. There is just something about having a collection of colors contained in a smartly designed package that makes me giddy. Which is probably why I am loving the pastel set of City Color Cosmetics Elegantly Bold Shadow and Blush Palette.
Small enough to fit comfortably in your hand, it comes with a generously-sized mirror, along with a sponge-tip applicator and a mini blush brush. Although I do get some use out of sponge-tip applicators, I never actually use those blush brushes (too small to be any good).
There are three palettes in the Elegantly Bold collection: Neutrals, Pastels, and Dark. I have the pastel set, which includes three blushes, and 6 shadows. For a pastel palette, it’s strange that a black shadow is included, but this can be used as a contrast shadow or a liner.
The pigmentation on the blushes is intense, far more than I really expected. On top of that, they linger on your skin for quite some time without fading. You can use these colors individually, or swirl them together.
The shadows are quite pigmented as well, surprisingly so. The one bit of advice I have to give with all City Color Cosmetics eyeshadows is that they look so much more vivid when applied on your eyes with a dampened brush or sponge-tip applicator. In this swatching photo, however, they’ve all been applied dry.
As with all City Color Cosmetics products, the ingredients include parabens, which is something to be aware of if you are sensitive to them or trying to avoid them.
The shadows in this pastel palette make for quite a pretty eye!
Priced at $4.99 and with three palette options, the Elegantly Bold Shadow and Blush Palette is a great deal, especially if you’re looking for a way to try brighter colors.
