I ran out of foundation. I don’t know how I ran out of foundation as my bathroom looks like Industrial Light and Magic. My foundation of choice is Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Makeup SPF15. The foundation makes my skin look I’ve just had a facial- soft, smooth, and glowy. Estee Lauder is also nice enough to make the foundation in neutral colors so I get a perfect match.
Side note- I have had beauty professionals argue with each other over my undertones. I am not warm and I am not cool. My best colors are blue-greens, hunter green, black, blue – violet, and primary red. I cannot wear primary blue- go figure. I can wear baby blue like a champ , but plum makes me look washed out. I can confuse the most astute “ color people.” If you are an astute color person and would like to take the “ pick Megan’s best color challenge” e-mail me @ [email protected] and we will talk.
Unfortunately, I am still on Post-Holiday Budget and there is nary a Free gift in sight. Every time I had a gift card reserved for the foundation, I used it for something silly like food , heat, or coffee. I needed to find a budget alternative.
Oh and speaking of drug stores : Maybelline has a new foundation out that costs TWENTY DOLLARS. You heard me, TWENTY DOLLARS. They do realize that you can buy a perfectly matched foundation at a Clinique counter for 24 dollars…right?
What I did end up getting is the Wet N Wild Intuitive ™ Shade-Adjusting Foundation+Primer in Fair for absolutely no apparent reason ( at least I am honest). The formula starts out white and has these weird little suspended beads. You put the foundation on your skin and it is supposed to adjust to your shade. Do I believe in this space-aged technology- NO. Is this a pretty good foundation for $3.99- YES.
This is the perfect foundation for those days when you just need a little polish. It won’t make bad skin great, it won’t make good skin flawless, but it gives enough coverage to compliment a business or a casual look. While this foundation won’t replace my higher- end favorites, I will grab it on days when I don’t want to look like an extra from the Thriller Video when I go to the laundromat. I will keep this drug-store gem in my rotation.
You can find Wet N Wild almost anywhere, unless of course you are looking for the new Color-Icon Trios. Apparently the new Color-Icon trios are like the treasure of the Sierra Madre.

I’ve heard this things about this also! But I’m trying to hold out for high end foundation because everything I’ve used so far has broken me out. x.x
Also, which foundation was it?! O.O The new Fit Me line is around $6 where I am… Maybe it’s just that store??
What the heck…a Maybelline foundation for $20?
The Superstay is pretty pricey ($14 I think…) but I haven’t seen anything higher than that.
Funny that you mention the Color Icon Trios…I’m rocking “I’m Getting Sunburned” today. They are so worth the hype!
well son of a gun! The foundation HAD to be labeled wrong at our Wally World.
Those eyeshadows are ridiculously hard to find!
Almay has a foundation like that – I tried it but it my face break really bad, I had to just throw it away, but when I did use it it seemed to work okay for a cheap foundation.
Sara, the Almay one did that to my skin too. Which is weird for a brand that prides itself on being hypo–allergenic.
I’m trying their new Wake Up powder foundation…we’ll see how that goes.
