As I promised in my post featuring Valentine’s Day makeup inspiration with higher end beauty products, today I have a budget friendly Valentine’s Day makeup look for you.
Of all the holidays that provide inspiration for our makeup looks, I have to say that Valentine’s Day is my favorite. The day evokes reds, pinks and purples – some of my favorite makeup colors to play around with.
I’m still amazed by the quality of budget friendly, aka drugstore makeup, these days. The prices are reasonable and the quality is something to write home about! Most of the budget friendly makeup products I used to create this Valentine look are under $10. The most expensive item? The Jesse’s Girl Contour palette which is $12.99.
When I first started my makeup journey 20 years ago I yearned to be able to afford more expensive makeup – these days I’m excited to see what’s new and popping in my favorite drugstore beauty brands! Of course, it’s not only about what you can find in stores, there are also many great and affordable beauty brands that are available exclusively online. Some of my favorite budget friendly online beauty brands include Makeup Geek and ColourPop.
Ready to find out what this look is all about? Well, first and foremost it’s my slept-in tousled hair – no shame! Ha ha! Lately I’ve had a real challenge pulling off two-day post-shower curls and I’m pretty certain it’s the water quality at the gym that’s to blame. When I wake up in the morning my hair is immediately pulled back and I find myself washing my hair every day. So, this look? Not so bad for what I’m working with!
I started this look with Wet n Wild Photo Focus foundation in Cream Beige and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Concealer in Medium. I set with Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder in Light. As mentioned I contoured with the Jesse’s Girl Contour Palette and used Milani Blush in Rose D’Oro. The highlight is Wet n Wild Crown of my Canopy.
Next, I used the Jesse’s Girl Eyeshadow Primer with the Wet n Wild eyeshadow palette (and Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Dupe) Rose in the Air. My eyeliner is NYX Slide On Liner in Golden Bronze and my lashes are coated with Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara. My eyebrows are filled in and set with ColourPop Dope Taupe Eyebrow Pencil and NYX Brow Mascara in Blonde.
This Valentine’s Day makeup look is finished with Milani All Natural Lip Pencil (a neutral must have!) and Sephora Favorites #Lipstories Lipstick in Popscicle Lips.
This look was so much fun to put together!
If you don’t have a Valentine this year, don’t feel bad! I don’t either and I’ve set myself to be a Valentine in a #valentinetakeover – send cards to friends, send encouraging text messages, pay for someone’s coffee, give lots of love away. All that love will come back to you and then some!
I have another Valentine’s Day makeup look coming soon with some pretty new makeup from Clarins. Stay tuned!
