Brush Focus: The Fan Brush

By Sheila Arkee

Ladies and gents, I am here to tell you about the brush in my makeup collection that has gotten more abuse than any other brush in my tool belt.

This poor, innocent little brush is so often plucked out of obscurity by a certain toddler and used as a painting implement. Not only that, I often find it in odd places, like at the very bottom of a tote bag I use to carry some makeup supplies.

And yet it always rebounds, never losing its shape. Crazy.

So, how DOES one use a fan brush? It’s quite a delightful little tool that is fantastic for quite a few things!

Being soft and on the whispy side makes this brush perfect for a light dusting of shimmer powder on the cheekbones, or a touch of blush or bronzer on the cheeks. If you’re after a subtle look, the fan brush will certainly do it for you.

The fan brush is also great for lightly sweeping away any shadow crumbles that might appear under your eyes. You know how that happens!

Do you have a fan brush in your beauty tool belt?

I received one with a little setting powder from Laura Mercier, so that’s how I’ve used it, but I love your suggestions. Now I’ll use it more often :)
