Have you ever heard of a fan brush that is specifically for mascara? They’re teensy, tiny brushes, made with stiff acrylic bristles that deliver quite a punch when it comes to mascara application.
You can use these brushes to apply mascara, and also to separate your lashes after applying it with a traditional wand. These types of brushes are really handy because they allow you to place mascara alllll the way at the root of your lashes, giving the appearance of volume where it is most needed.
To apply mascara, simply sweep your wand onto the brush a few times. You can always add more mascara to the brush if neededl
Then place the brush at the base of the lashes and wiggle out the wand!
Mascara fan brushes are excellent for cleaning up the top of the lashes. You know how it goes when you do a little shadow touch up only to find your shadow all over your lashes!
Cleaning the fan brushes can be a pain, since you must do this after every application. I keep a bottle of brush cleanser handy and that usually does the trick!
Macara fan brushes are by no means a necessity in your brush roll, but they’re fun to use .
Bonus tip, they are great to use after applying false eyelashes to help integrate the false lashes in with your reguilar lashes!
The mascara fan brush I own is #205, by MAC Pro. This type of brush is also available at art supply stores – look for a brush similar to this one - much cheaper!

I really love how your lashes turned out using the fan brush!
Thank you, Leticia! It does give lashes a really unique & beautiful look!
I think I need one for the purposes of covering up shadow that gets on my lashes XD at the moment I just fling some black eyeshadow on there with any old brush haha
There was a time when I was so obsessed with the idea of having a mascara brush, I dreamed of it. O.o
I never did pick one up though, but seeing these picture might change my mind.
Thanks for the comparison photos – very helpful!
