Brush Focus: Alternate Uses for the Angled Brush

By Sheila Arkee

This post is the direct result of a Twitter conversation. It’s true! Long-time reader Heather responded to one of my posts regarding an upcoming Breaking Down Beauty about brow grooming.

Angled brushes are a big part of basic brow grooming, and have a firm place on my must-have list for a basic makeup kit. For serious, angled brushes may seem delicate, but pack a whole lotta punch when it comes to applying eye makeup.

These small, chiseled brushes are so great for applying brow powder to bare eyebrows, and also for appling gel or liquid eyeliner to the eyes.

However, besides being great for the eye area, did you know that this chiseled  brush is also spectacular for the lips? It’s actually a fantastic lip brush.

The way the brush is constructed, it allows for an easy and good lip product application. The contour of the brush follows the shape of the lips, and voila, a perfect lip application!

That’s one of the great things about makeup in general – there really are no rules.

Do you use your brushes for uses other than what they’re named?

I have a cruddy old foundation brush that I use to apply face masks. It makes the application a lot less messy.
