As a beauty blogger, I have the great opportunity to talk to many makeup artists and take a peek into their kits. There are some products and tools that are guaranteed to show up in the kits of every single artist I encounter, and one of those tools is none other than the Beauty Blender.
Uniquely shaped, the Beauty Blender has been on the market for a few years now and has taken the makeup world by storm. The reason why? It works like no other sponge to ensure that foundation is flawlessly blended. Seriously, like no other.
When you see the sponge it looks like the most adorable teardrop shaped thing you’ve ever seen. One quick tip so you can avoid disaster, unlike me: to take the sponge out of the box, push it down through it’s container.
The trick with the Beauty Blender is that you have to use it while it’s saturated with water. It’s very simple to do so!
Hold the sponge under running water, and squish it a few times to make sure it becomes completely saturated.
When this step is complete, wrap in a towel to take away excess moisture.
The sponge is ready to use, and you’ll find that it’s a bit larger than when it’s dry.
I use the bottom for foundation, dipping the sponge directly into the product …
… and then “bouncing” all over my face.
I use the top for concealer, and also for applying shimmery powder as a highlighter. [Sidenote -a "Breaking Down Beauty" on highlighting/contouring is coming this week! ]

How do you use your Beauty Blender?

I don’t have one of these, but have read about them, and all the reviews sound great. I know Sonia Kashuk also makes something similar, I think it’s shaped more like a “bell” and is sold at Target.
Just saw this today on another blog LOL, but I still think it’s funny looking and am not sure I’d use it….I haven’t used a sponge for application for ages. But I’m sure it’s a handy tool.
very cool! have read the raves, but never bothered to find out what it is before this.
I’m sure it’s great but $20?!
How funny – I just saw that other blog post. Totally unplanned!
It IS pretty pricey for a sponge, but you can get a lot of use out of it, but psssst… here’s a secret… the Sonia Kashuk version is a flawless dupe!!!!
I second the Sonia Kashuk.
Works like a wonder. It will make your least favorite foundation look fabulous on.
I LOVE my beauty blender. I actually bought the two pack with the cleanser at IMATS last year in Pasadena. It is flawless in making foundation look and apply like “butta” It’s expensive but it’ll last you for months. I’ve been using my first one for like 6 months. I still use other foundation applicators but this one is still my fav.
It’s really amazing how long it lasts!
