Breaking Down Beauty: A Purple & Gold Light Smoky Shadow Tutorial

By Sheila Arkee

One of my favorite ways to wear a smoky eye is with a dab of color added to the middle of the lid. It’s unexpected and a fun way to change things up, not to mention a gorgeous flash when you blink your eyes. For today’s look I’ll show you how to achieve a really pretty and simple look in a few, quick steps.

Before

After

Step 1: After applying a shadow primer, use a flat brush to apply your main lid color to the inner and outer corners of your eye lid. Don’t forget the lower lid, as well!

Step 2: Use another flat brush to pat a bright shadow in the middle of your lid.

Step 3: Use a small, fluffy brush to add a white highlighter to the browbone and inner corner.

Step 4: Add mascara, liner, and brows, and you’re set!

The best part about this eyeshadow technique is that it’s so, so easy to replicate with whatever combination you wish! The possibilities? Endless – and that’s the beauty of makeup.
