Blur Out Pores With Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

I Bought It

By Sheila Arkee

Pores, pores, pores. I am not a fan of large facial pores and I suspect this is something that can be agreed upon universally. Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser offers a quick and easy solution to reducing the appearance of pores, and with that in mind I could barely no when I saw it during a trip to Ulta.

When it comes to pore reduction, I’ve been relying on my skin care regimen to keep mine looking good. Besides the fact that our pores get larger as we age, it’s important to keep your skin clean for your pores to look their best. The closest cosmetics product I’ve found to really help with pore reduction is the Urban Decay Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush, which is some kind of an amazing magic brush.

If you are sensitive to silicone at all, you’ll want to avoid this particular product, which is chock full of dimethicone. Upon first touch, it reminded me immediately of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, which I used to rely on but ditched after I realized my skin didn’t like it so much.

Here’s my skin before Instant Pore Eraser:

And here’s my skin with Instant Pore Eraser and makeup:

While I did see a difference in the appearance of my pores, I didn’t find that it made a huge difference in the appearance of my makeup. There was no gliding on of foundation in this situation. Also, after 3 hours of wear, and this is even with the use of a setting spray, there was a massive amount of shine that I was not quite expecting. Instant Pore Eraser is one of those products I’ll keep for a minimum makeup day, but not something I’ll rely on as a regular primer.

My Final Thoughts: While Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser does live up to its claims and decreases the appearance of pores, it’s not something I’ll be using on a regular basis. Besides the fact that my skin does not like continual use of silicones, I’ve found this product makes a shiny end result inevitable.

    You are welcome. :)

I need to pay more attention to what products are silicone-based. I don’t know how my skin reacts to them.

I have seen very mixed reviews on this product. Some people really like it, others hate it. It seems to just be a very basic, very slippy silicone primer. :)

I’m disappointed to hear – I haven’t tried the one I got yet but I worried about my sensitive skin with it. Your complexion does look lovely though!!

It’s a shame that it didn’t work all that well for you.

Oh that’s a shame. More oil is NOT what my face needs lol

  • TinaBowling

I’m bummed! I have no need to try this now, thanks for the review.

I saw this and thought about buying it but I guess I can stick with the products I have already.

I have pore issues as well. I so need something – but this doesn’t sound like it.

I agree with you, I think it’s a bit too subtle. It would look fine without foundation, but seriously who would just wear a primer alone?

    Great review!

I just grabbed this and haven’t opened it yet! Great review :)

I never wear primers but I think your review is great! Not sure I would spend the $

hmm, one of the reasons I don’t use primer. I’m all for minimizing pores but if it doesn’t make my foundation look better, I just don’t do it. I really appreciate this review because I know now that as much as I love Maybelline, this isn’t for me. I’d be irritated by the shine.

Hmm I think i’ll skip this one. Plus the tube is so tiny!

  • Harshleen

I like that it reduces the appearance of pores but not a fan of the shiny finish! Thanks for the review!

    Great review!

Just purchased this a few days ago–I agree, it’s okay but it won’t take the place of my other primers.
