Happy New Year’s Day 2019! It’s the first day of the year and, as always, I’m filled with hope for the year ahead. It’s a fine day to finish my recap of 2018 best of’s with my choices for Best In Lips 2018.
In 2018 I think the beauty community finally broke through the liquid matte lipstick obsession that has existed for several years now. I’m not saying liquid matte lipsticks are done, but we’re seeing more creams and glossy textures than we have in a while.
Which makes this a great place to tell you about my favorite liquid matte lipstick for 2018 from Pixi Beauty. Oh, I adore these MatteLast liquid lipsticks which are formulated with beeswax. The beeswax lends a lightweight texture to these lipsticks making them feel so comfortable on your lips.
In 2018 I re-ignited my love for lip crayons which are just so handy and practical. Two favorites are Hourglass Cosmetics Lip Stylo Pens and Nudestix Lip+ Cheek Pencil.
ColourPop Lux Lipsticks sincerely rocked my world with their excellent price point ($7 each) and truly luxurious textures. These lipsticks are the real deal!
Similarly, I have nothing but good things to say about the Jesse’s Girl lipsticks I reviewed early in the year. They’re $5 each and really feel like they could be a bit more expensive.
When I first heard about Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipsticks I assumed they’d be of the matte variety, but they’re actually more like intensely pigmented glosses. Not a bad thing and they’re actually really nice with a couple occupying space in my purse these days.
Urban Decay released a line of Hi-Fi Shine Glosses which have a minty feel and are really quite lovely. I get so many compliments when I wear Rapture or Obsessed.
Another Urban Decay lip color I’m loving right now is Cherry which is from the Naked Cherry collection. I’ve been yearning for a deep berry color and this fits the bill!
When it comes to lipsticks with a luxury price range, Lipstick Queen Hello Sailor lipstick looks blue but turns into the loveliest rose on your lips. I adore the texture of Lipstick Queen products – they’re definitely worth the splurge.
