Looking back, 2018 was a great year of discoveries of new primers, foundations, powders and highlighters. Today I’m sharing Best In Face 2018 and a peek at the few, proud and brave beauty products that helped smooth my skin smooth and glowing.
Let’s start out with primers!
Danessa Myricks is a makeup artist, photographer and beauty brand owner, so anything that comes from her eponymous beauty line is very trust worthy! The Danessa Myricks Prism FX Hydrating Lotion reminds me of a long lost primer from Prescriptives in the best way possible.
I’m head over heels for the Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer in Dim Light. It’s fantastic and I’m wearing it solo most days. It makes my skin look so good and doesn’t exacerbate my oily skin situation.
When it comes to concealer, I re-discovered the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye in a pot and it’s excellent – the coverage is impressive and I love that it doesn’t over emphasize my under eye area.
On to foundations, and the ones that made it on my list are ColourPop and Veil Cosmetics Sunset Skin. Both give my skin excellent, long-wearing coverage. I didn’t get the perfect color match with ColourPop, but at the affordable price it’s easy enough to order a couple of shades to mix and match as needed.
When it comes to pressed powders, Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Setting Powder won my heart big time because it does what it says and my oily skin is matte after hours of wear. Hours! I also like ColourPop’s No Filter Sheer Pressed Powder which is an excellent and budget friendly option.
In loose translucent powder news, Kristofer Buckle’s product design is one of the best I’ve ever seen and keeps messes from getting out of control. Hourglass Veil Translucent Loose Powder is finely milled and so elegant. It makes me feel fancy when I use it and also works so well to keep skin looking great all day.
I’m not contouring my face these days as much as I’m embracing a glow. I’m a fan of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy highlighter and, surprisingly even to me, three powder highlighters from Avon. Like, really, where did they come from?
