Avon Mega Effects Mascara Wins Points For Ingenuity

Press Sample

By Sheila Arkee

You have to give it up to Avon for taking the standard mascara wand we all know and love so well, flip, turn it upside down and giving us pretty much the coolest new product I have seen in 2013, Mega Effects Mascara.

This is mascara re-imagined and I have to say, well done Avon for doing something that’s been done and re-done a million times over differently.

Mega Effects is a revolutionary mascara that took over six years to develop with feedback from over 2,000 women and 5,000 hours of science. That’s a lot of research behind a mascara that claims to offer “panoramic volume” and does so with the Wonderbrush that can be used at 12 different angles.

The container comes with a filter of sorts that makes sure the mascara stays on the Wonderbrush and not all over the place, which is a great touch.

We have all been there and done that with the traditional mascara wand that just refuses to coat those inner and outer lashes. With Mega Effects that problem is solved! I also love that you can get right into the base of the lashes with the Wonderbrush – this reminds me of a mascara fan brush, just so much more convenient to use!

Mega Effects is clump and sweat-proof as well as non-flaking and non-smudging. And, admittedly, non-spectacular on my lashes. I wish the results of Mega Effect were more impressive but it just can’t beat the results of Benefit’s They’re Real.

My Final Thoughts: You can’t deny that Avon Mega Effects Mascara is a really cool product. Although I sincerely adore the concept behind this mascara, the results are unfortunately lackluster on my lashes.

I saw a photo of this product in a magazine and was sooo curious about the actual product. So glad you reviewed it, and gave it an honest review. It looks like an instrument of torture to me. And who wants a huge thing to have to store? I would say this is a product that is over-designed. But so happy to finally see it “up close”!

I saw this in a Pixiwoo video the other day and I was really curious. Up close it looks even stranger than I imagined. LOL. Definitely give Avon points for creativity, but I’m not sure I’ll be picking it up.

I think a B- looks generous. I’ve seen much more lush lashes on you.
