A Must Have – Model in a Bottle

By Sheila

It seems as if I am full of confessions of my makeup-related mistakes, and here I am with yet another one. Why share? Well, I suppose it’s to make myself feel a little better and to show that we all go though a learning process. This one involves a liberal dose of Aqua Net hairspray. On my face.

You see, I was getting married a few years ago (I am now divorced, fyi) and while everything else about my wedding was extremely simple – married on a fishing boat, bride wore black, groom wore jeans – I was DETERMINED to have a rocking makeup look that would last through the entire day.

So, I took a lot of time to apply products that I felt were going to make myself look my best, and to seal it all, I used an old drag queen trick of using hairspray to set your makeup and make yourself look your fiercest. Don’t ask me where I learned this old drag queen look, because I barely remember myself.

It was sticky. It was gooky. My face felt like a mask. It was a pain to take off. There was a small breakout involved.

Too bad for me that this all happened right before Model in a Bottle came out. Developed by an esthetician in response to customers asking for a makeup sealer, Model in a Bottle is just fantastic.

A lot less harsh than Aqua Net, you spray it an arm’s length away from your face and let the mist settle. You don’t feel anything sticky or goopy, but it sets everything and keeps your makeup fresh until you remove it.

Although it’s ok to use on a daily basis, I use it only for special events, and it has never once failed me or my eyeshadow. It also comes in a formula for sensitive skin, and the company also sells products for sealing eyebrows as well as lipstick.

Model in a Bottle gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up from me and is available to purchase through their website, modelinabottle.com.
