91/365 Days of Eyeshadow

By Sheila Arkee

I’m obsessed with the Kardashian sisters and I couldn’t figure out why until recently.

You know what it is? For the first time in the media I’m seeing people who are of Middle Eastern ancestry, like me.  As I was growing up, I never saw anyone similar on tv or in magazines, which was not easy during my teenage years!   It took me quite some time to realize I didn’t really look like a Sweet Valley twin, and accepting my features and my crazy, curly hair took a while.

Anyway, there are quite a few makeup tutorials on YouTube featuring the Kardashian sisters and I really like this one with Kim and her makeup artist Stephen Moleski. Here’s my version of the smokey purple eyes.

Stephen also has a great tip in this video, which is to put excess product from your brush onto a CD. Nice!

Base: MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot

Lid: MAC Naked Pigment

Crease: MAC Deep Truth

Liner (upper lid): MAC Boot Black liquid liner

Liner (rims): Stila Onyx Kajal

Brows: Stila Dark brow duo

Mascara: CoverGirl Lash Blast

I love the Kardashians, and I think it’s great that they’re not afraid to show who they are in terms of their ethnicity :) it helps that they’re all disturbingly gorgeous too, haha.

I love the lid color but would love to see a bit more color in your crease.

I don’t know how I feel about the tip on never putting shadow on your browbone. That’s a must for me!

    Kate – I KNOW!!!!!
Marcey – I’ll do a take two one of these days 😉
Sihouette – I love that about them, too!

I love that they’ve helped America realize how sexy Middle Eastern women are! Why did it take this long?

I love all your eyelooks. They are fun and interesting yet not overpowering. How do you always manage to apply the crease colour with such a light hand even when some of the colours are really dark? I always have a problem with applying colour to my crease

Thanks, Winnie. It all goes back to blending techniques! Speaking of, that’s on my list of tutorials for you guys!
