Crazy, busy schedule today with my toddler in tow the entire time, so I’m keeping things light and easy!
After watching Sex and the City 2, I decided to bust out the same kajal pencil that Carrie uses in the film. It’s the real deal and it is INTENSE! This kajal is waterproof, but still be prepared to be amazed when it’s still on the rims of your eyes at the end of the day!
Day 3:
Base: MAC’s Bare Canvas Paint
Lid: MAC’s Dazzlight
Crease: Green shade from the Black Radiance #8808A shadow quartet.
Liner: Kajal!
Brows: Lighter shade from Stila’s brows for
Mascara: Dior Show
You can purchase the Kajal on Ebay very cheaply. Search for “Hashmi Kajal”. Here’s a link to one vendor.
If you are concerned about lead, here’s an excellent alternative that I have in my makeup collection – it’s a kajal bullet by Styli Style, and it works great, too!
I’m glad someone mentioned something about lead, because I had heard about it a while back. As far as the lead issue goes, I believe it’s a case of personal comfort. I would never advise anyone to use something that they wouldn’t feel comfortable using.
A report came out a few years ago telling people to avoid buying kajal from overseas, including this brand. The company that manufactures the kajal claims there is a minute amount of lead in the kajal and it is not dangerous.
Of course, lead DOES show up in other cosmetics items many of us use on a daily basis. Here’s an interesting article via Snopes on lead in lipstick.
As far as myself, yes, I will continue to use Hashmi Kajal, but only on the occassions I feel the need to get an intense smokey eye on.

Where did you get that kajal?
Awesome! That’s my HG kajal, which I stopped using after reading on a tribe.net thread that it might have lead in it. I’m guessing if you used it, and it was used in SATC2, that’s not the case. This makes my day. (Also, your eyes look amazing!)
I have never heard of Kajal eyeliner before – - – It sorta looks like cone incense. Weird, but I must have one! Where can you buy it?
Thank you, Kathy!
Susan Marie – It’s really cheap! You can find it on ebay … very cheap! http://cgi.ebay.com/Hashmi-Kajal-Tube-Herbal-Smudge-free-eyeliner-mascar-/220473645997?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item335540dbad
Just picked up a tube. Can’t wait to try it and review it. Thanks!
The logical side of my brain is telling me that they wouldnt sell it (let alone use it in SATC2) if it were dangerous, but damn. Lead makes me paranoid >_<
I love the look of kajal, but I always worry about it not having staying power. While lead is certainly a concern, it is probably present in minute amounts in almost every product we use as it is a naturally occurring substance.
