For Under $10 Is Maybelline Fit Me Liquid Foundation A Bargain Steal?

I Bought It

By Sheila Arkee

Foundation bliss has a name for me and that name is Make Up For Ever’s HD Liquid Foundation in shade 153. While I’m firmly entrenched in this makeup staple, I’m still open to trying out different products, most recently Maybelline’s Fit Me Liquid Foundation in shade 235.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation 1

Maybelline’s Fit Me Foundation has been around for a few years, but it’s new to me and I’ve had my eyes on it for quite some time. This product is formulated without oils or waxes and is claimed to let your natural skin show through with the benefit of a translucent base and lightweight pigments that offer a light to medium finish.

Dear Mass Market Beauty Brands: Please stick a pump or other type of applicator on your products. Otherwise, they’re ridiculous to deal with. Thanks. Me.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation 3

After consulting Findation.com, I purchased shade 235, which is actually a great color match for my skin, which is impressive considering how much of a challenge it is to find that perfect color match at budget-friendly prices.

The finish results, however, leave much to be desired. Namely, the coverage, which is too lightweight for my needs these days. Also, this is not a match with my normal-to-oily skin, pulling a disappearing act after about 3 hours.

My Final Thoughts: While Maybelline Fit Me Liquid Foundation in shade 235 is a great color match for my skin, it’s just a little above average when it comes to wear. It’s nice, but by no means a bargain win in my book.

Rating: B-

I have never had good luck with Maybelline foundations. I can’t find a good shade match, they all pull to orange, too dark, and they all wear off too soon. Blech.

I’ve never had much luck with foundations at all. Too much patchy coverage or too thick.

I was curious about this too, but I will stick to what works. Your makeup looks pretty in your pic though!!!

I like this foundation, but only in the summer. It fights with my dry skin in the winter!

i’ve used this, and was not a fan

I tried this and didn’t love it. Didn’t even like it.

Bummer, I was actually looking at that display last week and thought about picking up one to try, but now I don’t think I want to. My skin is combination, and sometimes it gets a little too oily, so I don’t think this will be a good fit for me.

When I tried this foundation years ago I was impressed that a drugstore had a pale enough foundation for me to try, but it was too orange or oxidized on me, if I remember correctly.

I have used this and it was just okay for me. Decent coverage but it didn’t control oil, and started to disappear midday.

I love this product for two reasons:
    1. It’s not too heavy which is perfect for my oily skin
    2. It’s the only drugstore brand that my perfectly match my caramel skin tone.
My shade is 340 by the way :-D

Fit Me didn’t work for me either :( Your eye makeup is beautiful!

I’ve never tried this foundation, but had been curious about it, so thank you for the review! I have combination/oily skin and love the Cover Girl 3-in-1 Foundation; not sure if you’ve ever tried that one. And btw, your eye makeup in the photo above is GORGEOUS!!

Thank you for the review! I’ll probably pass on this now

I was just about to buy this foundation because they had a bunch of them at Big Lots for $2!! Glad I passed it up, because I also need more coverage these days!

Booo I wish it was better for normal to oily skin but then again I prefer a heavier coverage foundation

  • MyNewestAddiction

    Pretty finish!

  • Nidia Doherty

I like lighter coverage, myself, but I usually go for a BB or CC cream. I’d want a buildable foundation if I’m going for more coverage, so I think I’ll pass.

The last two Revlon foundations I tried didn’t last long on me. Even a Colorstay one.

  • Harshleen

Thanks for the review! Doesn’t sound like a good pick!

I’ve gotta have the comfort, the wear, the match… foundations have to be an A grade to even consider. Thanks for the review!

    I agree and it’s a shame!

  • http://www.painted-ladies.com/ Sheila Arkee

    Thank you, Judy!

  • http://www.painted-ladies.com/ Sheila Arkee

Maybe that’s why I don’t like it – my dry skin doesn’t like it at all!

  • http://www.painted-ladies.com/ Sheila Arkee

    Thank you!

Thank you! the CoverGirl wasn’t a win for me in the Summer, but I’ll try it again to see how it works out in Winter.

I’m glad I’m not alone – Revlon is awful on me.

I loved the texture and found the texture buildable, but good lawd.. oily skin disaster. Another great review, and as they say.. on to the next!
