With 2017 drawing to a close in a mere couple of weeks, it’s time to take look back at the year in review and have a chat about the best of the best. What, you may ask? Well, as the title of the blog post suggests, today I’m going to take you on a virtual tour of the best skincare products that have come my way in 2017.
I have to tell you that I find skincare the most challenging products to review. I want to test each product for at least a couple of weeks to make sure it gets a fair shake. Sometimes products I’ve initially disliked end up being my favorites and on the same note, products that start off strong end up finishing with a whimper!
My skin type is normal to oily and it’s in good condition for my 39 years. I’m not ready to head in the direction of injectables and I’m hoping to stave off botox and fillers for a few years to come. My biggest skincare concerns are fine lines, forehead wrinkles and pores, pores, pores! There are a couple of other products I could add to this list, but for brevity’s sake I decided to cull things to the very, very, very 10 best skincare products I’ve come across in 2017. I use these products consistently and will restock as needed!
When I wake up in the morning, my eyes are often puffy beyond belief. I rinse my skin with cool water and apply this soothing gel with its cooling metal tip and the results are incredibly soothing. Aaaaah, I can feel the relief now!
I’ve been using this eye cream in the super fancy bottle most nights along with a Michael Todd Eye Eraser and am happy with the texture under my eyes. I’m considering doing another go-round with the Tria Laser, but for now I’m content with this lovely cream.
When it comes to my night time moisturizing needs, I have quite a few products to choose from. When my sights land on this cream from Elemis, I know I’ll wake up smooth and glowy and I love the results. Don’t ask me why I don’t use it every night – I guess like to give the other moisturizers in my arsenala chance!
Miracle Water, I adore you! I’ve been raving about the benefits of Miracle Water both here and on Instagram for the last few months, and it really is that good. I love that I can use it before cleansing my face to remove my makeup AND afterwards as an essence with skin care benefit. It’s a keeper.
Sometimes all you’ll see me wear on my face is some sunscreen, especially on the weekends! I have been enjoying this one from Dermalogica which doesn’t make my skin overly oily and keeps me fully protected from the sun.
The key to keeping my oily skin under control is to use a clay mask after my workouts. It might seem extreme, but it’s more of a fancy cleanser from my usage. After a workout I apply it to my skin, head to the showers, and rinse it off completely within under 5 minutes. This is the one I’ve been using consistently for the past few months and it works very well. I also use it under my armpits once a week to give that area some TLC and a quick detox.
I love my Clarisonic! I never really understood the hype of this cleansing tool that’s powered by sonic technology until I started using mine on a daily basis this year. It’s not a tool that exfoliates your skin, rather it helps give your skin the cleansing it deserves. Just 60 seconds a day and my pores are cleansed, refreshed and happy.
For disclosure sake, I’m in the middle of using this at-home microdermabrasion unit as part of a sponsored series. I have to tell you that not only is it easy to use, bu the results are fantastic and immediate. I’m digging how it’s transforming my skin. It quickly and painlessly removes the dead skin cells from your face, which makes your skincare products more effective.
While this isn’t a product you put on your skin, it’s something I put in my coffee every day that has made a visible difference in the quality of my skin! A couple of months ago I saw a display of collagen peptides at Whole Foods that piqued my interest. This is sourced from cow hides (and I ignore this to not be so grossed out), benefits your joints, hair and skin and can be mixed into food or any cold or hot drink. I add this tasteless powder to my tea or coffee and do see a visible difference in the quality of my skin overall. I have couple of rough patches on my body that are smooth sailing right now.
How about you? What were your favorite skincare products from 2017? I’m off to buy a snail serum to review in the upcoming year – looking forward to chatting more about it!
